Demi Vollering wins women’s world road title in Montréal

Dutch rider Demi Vollering won the elite women’s road race at the UCI Road World Championships in Montréal on Saturday, completing the 180.1-kilometre race in 4:45:09.

Poland’s Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney finished second in the same time. Italy’s Elisa Longo Borghini took bronze, four seconds behind Vollering, while Switzerland’s Marlen Reusser placed fourth at eight seconds.

Sarah van Dam was the top Canadian, finishing 17th at 8:34. The race started in Brossard’s Quartier DIX30 and finished at Parc Jeanne-Mance in Montréal.
