HMCS Ottawa has returned to its home port in Esquimalt after a deployment of more than four months in the Indo-Pacific and the North American West Arctic.

The Royal Canadian Navy frigate arrived October 9 after participating in Operations HORIZON and LATITUDE. National Defence said the ship took part in the multinational RIMPAC exercise, fired Mark 46 torpedoes and served as the task group commander for 14 ships during part of the deployment.

HMCS Ottawa also operated in the Bering Sea, where it conducted simulated maritime-strike activity with the United States Air Force, according to the federal release.

The announcement concerns the ship’s return and operational activities. It does not disclose any combat engagement or casualties.
