Canada signs non-binding term sheet for potential GlobalEye fleet

Canada has signed a non-binding term sheet with Saab Canada to continue negotiations on a possible acquisition of GlobalEye airborne early warning and control aircraft.

The Defence Investment Agency said September 25 that the government anticipates discussing six aircraft built on Bombardier’s Global 6500 platform. A term sheet sets a basis for negotiations; it is not a purchase contract or a final commitment to acquire the fleet.

GlobalEye combines airborne radar and command systems intended to help monitor activity across large areas. Detailed pricing, delivery timing and final industrial arrangements were not announced in the release.

The distinction matters for Canadian aerospace suppliers and investors: negotiations may advance, change or fail to produce a contract. Any later acquisition decision should be assessed from the final agreement and published procurement terms.
