Ottawa puts $762,000 toward Bridgewater walking and cycling path

The federal government has announced $762,000 for a dedicated walking and cycling path on an existing bridge in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia.

Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada said September 25 that the path is intended to improve the connection between downtown Bridgewater and the local high school. The project follows flood damage affecting the bridge area.

The federal commitment is conditional on a contribution agreement being signed. The announcement therefore confirms planned support, not completion of the path or an opening date.

Once delivered, the separated facility is expected to give pedestrians and cyclists a clearer route across the bridge. Construction timing and any traffic effects will depend on subsequent local project notices.
