FedNor directs $850,145 to Northern Ontario screen and music industries

FedNor is providing $850,145 to Cultural Industries Ontario North for programs serving Northern Ontario’s film, television and music sectors.

The September 25 announcement describes the money as a non-repayable contribution. Planned uses include training grants of up to $10,000, industry events, awards programming and student placements.

The federal release says the project is expected to create or maintain close to 45 jobs. That is a forecast attached to the funded work, not a count of positions already created.

The funding is region-specific and does not establish a new national arts program. It is aimed at workforce development and business activity through Cultural Industries Ontario North, which serves creators and producers in the North.
