Manitoba public-health officials declared the province’s measles outbreak over effective October 16, saying the last laboratory-confirmed case was identified in August.

The province reported 1,038 cases since the outbreak began in 2025: 931 confirmed and 107 probable. Officials said 87 per cent of reported cases involved people who were unimmunized or whose immunization status was unknown.

There were 52 measles-related hospitalizations, including six intensive-care admissions, and no deaths. Half of hospitalized patients were children under 10. Officials also reported 21 cases in pregnant people and four cases of congenital measles.

The temporary outbreak eligibility that allowed measles vaccination for some children aged six months to under 12 months has ended. Manitoba says children should now follow its routine schedule and advises residents to consult official public-health guidance.
