Manitoba has fully disbursed its $15-million commitment to the rehabilitation of Thompson Regional Airport, the provincial government announced October 16.

The broader project is valued at more than $105 million and is led by the Thompson Regional Airport Authority. It includes a new terminal, non-airside infrastructure upgrades and an extension of municipal sewage services.

The province has separately spent about $2.8 million to realign the airport access road from Provincial Road 391.

The airport links northern residents, remote communities and businesses with health care, goods, services and destinations elsewhere in Canada. The announcement marks completion of the provincial contribution, not completion of the entire rehabilitation project.
