Montréal is inviting residents, schools and workplaces to take part in the Great ShakeOut earthquake drill at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, October 15.

During the exercise, participants are asked to drop to the ground, take cover under sturdy furniture and hold on. The city also recommends using the drill to review household emergency plans and check emergency kits.

Montréal notes that the region lies in a seismic zone. The exercise is a preparedness drill rather than a warning of an imminent event.
