The Royal Canadian Air Force has awarded Fanshawe College a four-year, $34.4-million contract to deliver aviation-maintenance training at Canadian Forces Base Borden beginning in January 2027.

National Defence said on October 2 that Fanshawe will provide a Transport Canada-approved academic curriculum for aviation systems, avionics systems and aircraft structures technicians at the Canadian Forces School of Aerospace Technology and Engineering.

The military school will remain an RCAF establishment. Military instructors and staff will continue to oversee the training environment, operational context and military-specific instruction, while Fanshawe instructors deliver the civilian curriculum.

National Defence says candidates will earn Fanshawe credentials aligned with equivalent civilian programs as part of their training.
