FINTRAC says it delivered a record 7,214 financial-intelligence disclosure packages to Canadian law-enforcement and security agencies in the 2025–26 fiscal year.

The packages were based on 3,007 unique disclosures and covered 1,678,230 financial transactions involving 10,650 subjects of interest, according to the agency’s annual report released October 26.

FINTRAC also reported 4,874 assessment and monitoring activities across businesses covered by federal anti-money-laundering rules. It issued 35 notices of violation, up 52 per cent from the previous year, with penalties totalling more than $247 million.

The agency highlighted extortion-related intelligence as one area of work: 122 disclosures identified 336 subjects of interest. These figures describe FINTRAC intelligence and compliance activity; a subject of interest is not the same as a person convicted of an offence.

FINTRAC receives and analyzes financial reports, but it does not investigate or prosecute criminal offences. Its disclosures provide intelligence to agencies that decide what further action is warranted.
