GeoSpectrum Technologies plans to add 40 full-time jobs as it expands its underwater-acoustics operation in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

The federal government announced a $225,000 repayable contribution on October 26. The money will support reconfiguration and upgrades to the company’s manufacturing, engineering and testing space.

GeoSpectrum develops underwater acoustic components and sonar systems for defence, commercial and research customers. The company currently employs about 300 people.

Its Dartmouth footprint is expected to reach 104,000 square feet by the end of 2026, up from 81,000 square feet in 2025. The expansion and job estimate are forward-looking plans, not completed results.

Ottawa is providing the loan through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency. Because the support is repayable, it differs from a non-repayable grant.
