Québec is directing organizations pursuing waste-heat recovery projects to the revised ÉcoPerformance program following changes to the province’s funding framework.

A new ÉcoPerformance framework took effect July 7, 2026. It includes support for feasibility studies on infrastructure that captures and distributes otherwise unused heat, as well as funding for projects that transfer that heat to meet another organization’s energy needs.

Eligible applicants include businesses, institutions and municipalities. Potential sources of recoverable heat include industrial plants, data centres, wastewater facilities and other operations that release thermal energy.

The November 5 notice is an administrative program update, not an announcement that a specific project has been approved or completed. Applicants should review the current ÉcoPerformance rules before submitting a request.
