Saint-Laurent has amended its bylaws to prohibit electric scooters and similar motorized personal-transport devices in public places controlled by the borough, including parks, sidewalks and recreational trails.

The local ban does not extend to public roads and bicycle lanes, where provincial rules continue to apply. Québec requires riders to be at least 14, wear a helmet, follow cycling rules and keep to a maximum speed of 25 km/h; the devices are not permitted on sidewalks or on roads with speed limits above 50 km/h.

The borough regulation excludes mobility aids and allows the council to designate specific places for these devices. Emergency and authorized activities are also exempt.
