Applications for Canada’s new $1-billion Food-Link Fund will open October 14 and remain available for eight weeks, the federal government says.

The program has two streams. The Food Terminal Fund will support wholesale food terminals and related infrastructure, while the Food Hub Program will support regional storage, processing, distribution and market connections.

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada says the funding is intended to strengthen domestic food distribution and help producers and processors reach markets. The application period is scheduled to close December 11, 2026.

The fund is part of the $3.2-billion National Food Security Strategy announced in June. Program details and application information are in the department’s October 5, 2026 release.
