Canada and Côte d’Ivoire have expanded their air transport agreement, increasing the rights available to airlines for passenger and cargo services between the two countries.

Airlines from each country may now operate up to 14 weekly passenger-combination flights and 10 weekly all-cargo flights. Carriers may serve any point in the other country, and cargo airlines receive fifth-freedom rights to continue to destinations in Africa, the European Union, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Transport Canada said two-way merchandise trade reached $1.2 billion in 2025. The expanded rights do not themselves mean that an airline has announced a new route; carriers still decide whether and when to use the capacity.

The terms are available immediately, according to Transport Canada’s October 6, 2026 announcement.
