Pointe-Claire homeowners can now apply for a municipal home-evaluation service intended to identify flood vulnerabilities and practical protective work.

The city said in a September 28 announcement that eligible owners will receive an assessment of their property, followed by a personalized work plan. The service can also include help reviewing contractor bids for recommended measures.

The city covers the evaluation cost initially. That amount is then deducted from the maximum $5,000 available through Pointe-Claire’s stormwater-management assistance program, so applicants should account for it when planning any reimbursable work.

The program is designed to help owners decide which measures fit their building rather than provide a guarantee against flooding. Pointe-Claire cautions that high demand may delay appointments.

Application instructions and eligibility details are available on the city’s home-evaluation page. Owners should wait for the assessment and confirm program rules before commissioning work they expect the municipality to support.
