Ottawa adds $846,000 to Cycling Canada support during Montréal worlds

Canadian Heritage announced an additional $846,000 for Cycling Canada during the 2026 UCI Road World Championships in Montréal, bringing federal support for the organization to up to $6.8 million in 2026–27.

The September 25 release says the broader package includes almost $4.9 million through the Sport Support Program. It also lists $470,000 for six other cycling events across Canada.

Ottawa separately committed $13 million over five years toward the Montréal world championships. Those event funds and Cycling Canada’s annual support are related to the sport but are not the same allocation.

The announcement describes funding commitments rather than results from the competition. Montréal-area readers looking for race schedules and venue information should continue to consult the official championship channels because event conditions can change.
