ARTM plans metropolitan paratransit centre under STM starting in 2027

Greater Montréal’s regional transit authority plans to centralize major paratransit functions in a new metropolitan centre whose operation will progressively be entrusted to the STM beginning in 2027.
The Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain says the centre will bring together admissions, reservations, customer service and trip planning now handled across different public transit agencies. The STM is expected to take on paratransit delivery across the ARTM territory in stages as each agency’s activities are integrated.
Laval’s transit agency will be the first organization formally integrated. Its customers’ reservations and trips have already been handled through a partnership with the STM since January 1, 2026.
The announcement does not require an immediate change from riders. The ARTM says customers will be notified before any change affects how they use the service. A timetable for integrating the other territories, including West Island services, was not specified in the announcement.
