Ahuntsic–Cartierville strike cancels Tuesday recycling and closes arenas

A week-long blue-collar strike will disrupt recycling, street sweeping and recreational facilities in Ahuntsic–Cartierville from Tuesday, September 22, through Monday, September 28.

The borough says the Tuesday recycling collection in Bordeaux–Cartierville is cancelled. Other household collections are expected to continue on their regular schedules. Street sweeping will also be suspended during the strike.

Ahuntsic arena, Marcelin-Wilson arena, Sophie-Barat pool and park chalets will be closed. The borough says road, traffic-sign, water, sewer and public-tree work will be limited to urgent interventions.

Services that remain available

The Maison de la culture Ahuntsic and the Hélène-Charbonneau, Cartierville and Salaberry libraries are expected to remain open. Community centres will also remain accessible.

The borough’s permit counter, citizen service office and administrative offices will operate, although residents may encounter delays.
