Anand sets UN General Assembly agenda through September 26

Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand is joining Prime Minister Mark Carney and Canada’s delegation for the United Nations General Assembly’s 81st High-Level Week in New York, with meetings and events planned through September 26.

Global Affairs Canada said Anand’s programme is expected to include a G7 foreign ministers’ meeting and events on maritime security, the conflict in Sudan and support for Ukraine. She is also scheduled to take part in discussions involving the Nordic-Baltic Eight countries.

The announced agenda includes a leaders’ event on a two-state solution and the Gaza Peace Plan, a Crimea Platform event and a session focused on protecting civilians during armed conflict.

Anand is expected to conclude the visit on Saturday, September 26, by delivering Canada’s national statement to the General Assembly. The itinerary describes planned participation; outcomes will depend on the meetings held during the week.
