Bell signs non-binding plan for major Saskatchewan AI hub expansion
Bell and Saskatchewan have signed a non-binding memorandum for up to 900 megawatts of added AI-computing capacity.
Bell Canada and the Saskatchewan government have signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding for a phased expansion of Bell’s AI infrastructure in the province.
The proposal would add up to 900 megawatts of capacity and create a path to a 1.2-gigawatt AI infrastructure hub. Bell says the full buildout, including data centres, tenant computing equipment and related power generation, could exceed $50 billion in capital investment.
The company projects 800 to 1,200 construction, engineering and technical jobs, up to 600 permanent operations and management positions, and as many as 3,000 additional offsite and community jobs. Those figures are forecasts, not completed outcomes.
Bell says the added capacity would rely on partner-developed natural-gas generation and closed-loop cooling that requires no municipal water. Development remains subject to customer commitments, commercial agreements, permits, approvals and any required environmental assessments.
