Kirkland schedules Timberlea water shutdown Friday after new leak

Kirkland says water service in the Timberlea District will be interrupted again on Friday, September 11, after crews found a new leak near the site of an earlier repair.

The emergency work is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m., and the town expects the interruption to last until about 5 p.m. Residents were advised Thursday evening to store drinking water and fill a bathtub so they can flush toilets during the shutdown.

Earlier advisory had been lifted

Kirkland had lifted the preventive boil-water advisory issued after the September 8 water-main break at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, saying tests showed the water was safe to drink. The newly discovered leak requires a separate intervention Friday.

The town had not issued a new boil-water advisory for Friday’s repair when it published the shutdown notice. It said further notices would be sent if special precautions become necessary when service is restored. Residents should therefore rely on the town’s current alerts for any change in instructions.
