Drivers and bus riders should expect a new traffic pattern on Rue Saint-Jacques beginning November 6 as Ville-Marie prepares a protected one-way bicycle connection linked to the Réseau express vélo.

The borough said on October 15 that Saint-Jacques will become one-way eastbound between Rue Peel and Boulevard Robert-Bourassa. Lane assignments and signs will also change.

At Robert-Bourassa and Saint-Jacques, traffic heading south on Robert-Bourassa will no longer be allowed to turn right westbound. Traffic heading north will not be allowed to turn left westbound; the restriction includes buses. Westbound traffic on Saint-Jacques will have to turn left or right at the intersection.

At Rue de la Cathédrale, southbound traffic will no longer be allowed to turn right westbound onto Saint-Jacques. The borough says the changes are intended to fit the protected bicycle link into the corridor while maintaining movement through the sector.
