Automatic $150 disability-benefit payments begin September 17

Eligible Canada Disability Benefit recipients will begin receiving a one-time $150 supplemental payment on Thursday, September 17.

The payment is automatic for people who received the benefit for any month from July 2025 through June 2026. The federal government says no separate application is required.

A second payment phase is planned for winter 2027 for people eligible for the benefit from July 2026 onward and for recipients who are newly certified or recertified for the Disability Tax Credit.

Ottawa says the supplement is intended to offset costs associated with obtaining a Disability Tax Credit certificate. It reports that 335,650 people have received Canada Disability Benefit payments totalling $813,074,098 to date.

Recipients should use official Service Canada channels if they need to confirm eligibility or payment details.
