Federal by-elections are now under way in six ridings, with voting day set for Monday, December 7, 2026. Three of the contests are in Québec, including two Montréal ridings.

Elections Canada listed the ridings as Brantford–Brant South and Scarborough North in Ontario; Laurier–Sainte-Marie, Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie and Saint-Hyacinthe–Bagot–Acton in Québec; and Yorkton–Melville in Saskatchewan.

Key voting dates

  • Advance polls: November 27 to 30.
  • Vote early at an Elections Canada office: until 6 p.m. on December 1.
  • Apply to vote by mail: by 6 p.m. on December 1.
  • Election day: December 7.

Eligible voters must be Canadian citizens who are at least 18 on election day, live in one of the six ridings from November 1 through election day, and show acceptable proof of identity and address. Elections Canada says voters can check or update their registration online and do not need to wait for a voter information card to find their assigned polling place.

The information comes from an Elections Canada news release dated November 1, 2026 and the Prime Minister’s Office announcement issued the same day.
