Montréal’s Île-des-Sœurs library is now the Bibliothèque Kim-Yaroshevskaya, following a city decision to honour the actor, puppeteer and storyteller who lived in the neighbourhood for about 40 years.

Yaroshevskaya, who died in 2025 at age 101, was widely known for creating the character Fanfreluche and for her work on Passe-Partout. Verdun’s borough council approved the naming in June, and the city announced the new name on October 30.

The branch remains at 260 Elgar Street on Île-des-Sœurs. Montréal marked the renaming with a tribute concert at Quai 5160 on October 30.
