Canada produced a record 109.3 million tonnes of field crops in 2025, an 11 per cent increase from the previous year, Statistics Canada reported Monday.

Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba each recorded their highest field-crop output in the available series. Total agricultural biomass — including field crops, hay, vegetables, fruit and honey — reached 146.6 million tonnes.

Québec stood out in the longer-term fruit data. Its harvest increased from 116,000 tonnes in 2002 to 326,000 tonnes in 2025, accounting for more than 60 per cent of the national increase. Québec’s share of Canadian fruit production rose from 20 to 36 per cent.

The new Census of Environment release also estimates that wild pollinators contributed between 2.4 and 3.1 per cent of harvested crop biomass annually from 2016 through 2024. The measure covers commercial harvesting and excludes subsistence, recreational and cultural harvesting.
