A new federal-industry task force on trade digitalization held its first meeting on October 29, with the Port of Montréal among the organizations represented.

Transport Canada said the group will work on a “Tell Us Once” approach intended to let businesses submit trade information a single time and share it securely with authorized government systems. The membership also includes the Canada Border Services Agency, Air Canada, CN and CPKC.

The announcement starts the task force’s work; it does not provide a completion date or say the new system is already available. Any operational changes will depend on later design and implementation decisions.
