Line 71 shortened to Charlevoix amid Griffintown construction

The Pointe-Saint-Charles bus route now begins and ends at Charlevoix station while several construction projects affect Griffintown and nearby streets.

Montréal transit users travelling through Griffintown and Pointe-Saint-Charles are being advised to plan alternate routes as overlapping construction projects continue to affect streets and bus service.

Since October 21, the 71–Pointe-Saint-Charles bus has temporarily started and ended at Charlevoix métro station instead of Guy-Concordia. The city says three simultaneous work sites, including the full closure of the des Seigneurs bridge, are behind the change.

Alternatives for riders

  • Use Charlevoix station to connect with the Green line.
  • Bus routes 35, 36 and 57 may provide alternatives, depending on the trip.
  • Allow extra time and check the STM trip planner before leaving.

The city’s notice covers several partner construction sites scheduled through fall 2026. Detours may change as individual phases advance, so drivers, cyclists and transit users should follow posted signs.
