Canada and Greece sign classified-information agreement
The signed agreement would enable secure exchanges of classified information and expand access to security-sensitive work once in force.

Canada and Greece have signed a General Security of Information Agreement intended to allow their governments and authorized contractors to exchange and protect classified information.
The federal government says the framework can support cooperation in defence intelligence, weapons-system technical data, maritime security and other advanced technologies. It may also help Canadian companies compete for contracts that require access to protected information.
The agreement was signed in Athens on October 13. The federal release describes its effects as beginning once it is in force, so the signing should not be read as confirmation that every proposed commercial or defence project has been approved.
