Federal officials and executives from several major Canadian companies have held the first in-person meeting of the Canadian Cyber Defence Collective’s Strategic Forum advisory council.
Public Safety Canada and the Communications Security Establishment co-chaired the September 29 meeting at the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security in Ottawa. Participants discussed cyber threats, critical-infrastructure risks and the use of government intelligence and industry expertise to improve preparedness and response.
The forum includes senior representatives from Bell Canada, BlackBerry, Canadian National Railway, Enbridge, J.D. Irving, Telesat and WestJet, along with officials from the governments of Ontario and Nova Scotia. It brings together information and communications technology, energy, food and transportation interests.
The initiative was announced under the 2025 National Cyber Security Strategy. Ottawa says the forum will meet at least twice a year, virtually and in person, and publish an annual report on Public Safety Canada’s website each April. The announcement reports the meeting and governance structure; it does not claim that particular cyber incidents have already been prevented.
