Joshua Kutryk’s Crew-13 launch targeted for October 1

NASA and SpaceX are now targeting 11:10 a.m. Eastern time on October 1 as the earliest launch opportunity for Crew-13, a mission that includes Canadian astronaut Joshua Kutryk.

The Canadian Space Agency announced the revised target on September 23. Launch timing remains subject to the usual technical, operational and weather conditions.

Kutryk is scheduled to spend about six months aboard the International Space Station, where he will conduct scientific research and test new technologies. He would become the fourth Canadian Space Agency astronaut to fly a long-duration station mission and the first Canadian to travel through NASA’s Commercial Crew Program.

The agency scheduled a virtual media question-and-answer session with Kutryk for September 24 at 10 a.m., describing it as the final opportunity for journalists to speak with him before launch.
