Pierrefonds aquatic complex inaugurated; opening date still unset

Update — September 29, 2026: Montréal formally inaugurated the Pierrefonds–Roxboro aquatic complex on September 28. The city says free public swimming will begin when the facility opens later this autumn; it still has not published a specific opening date. The full programme is to be introduced gradually from winter 2027.

The $73.5-million project includes a 25-metre, eight-lane pool, one- and three-metre diving boards, a recreation pool with a wading area, slide and water play, a hammam and a multipurpose room. Montréal contributed $66 million and Québec $7.5 million.

The city says the building has step-free routes, broad circulation areas, pool-access equipment and a universal change room. Its design also uses geothermal energy from 18 wells, high-performance insulation and stormwater retention.

The borough had said on September 22 that construction was complete but operational testing, staff training and setup were still underway. Residents should continue to wait for the borough’s formal opening-date notice before planning a visit.
