Ksi Lisims LNG signs preliminary 20-year supply deal with Santos

The proposed Ksi Lisims LNG project in British Columbia has signed a preliminary agreement to supply Australian energy company Santos with one million tonnes of liquefied natural gas a year for 20 years.

The Heads of Agreement was announced September 14. It is the project’s third international supply arrangement this year, following agreements with Germany-based Uniper and SEFE.

Project is not yet operating

Ksi Lisims is a proposed floating liquefaction, storage and marine-terminal project on British Columbia’s north coast, with the Nisga’a Nation as a partner. The proposed capacity is 12 million tonnes a year.

Natural Resources Canada describes the project as a planned $30-billion development, but the latest announcement is a commercial milestone rather than confirmation that construction or exports have begun. The project was referred to the federal Major Projects Office in November 2025 and remains on a path toward a final investment decision.
