West Island boroughs move to garbage pickup every two weeks in November

Household garbage collection will move to every two weeks across L’Île-Bizard–Sainte-Geneviève and most of Pierrefonds–Roxboro beginning November 2, Montréal says.

Collection days and sectors will stay the same. The change covers all of L’Île-Bizard–Sainte-Geneviève and Pierrefonds–Roxboro except the Coopérative Village Cloverdale sector.

Only waste inside a compliant rolling bin will be collected; bags and surplus garbage left outside the bin will not. In L’Île-Bizard–Sainte-Geneviève, accepted black bins must be in good condition, have a hinged lid and hold 120, 240 or 360 litres. Residents there can contact 311 for a bin or repair.

Weekly recycling and food-waste pickup remain important parts of the collection system. Montréal says it is among the municipalities required to offer 26 household-garbage collections a year by December 2027.
