Tapestry, an application designed to streamline the open social web experience, has introduced an essential new feature aimed at users juggling several social media platforms simultaneously: the automatic removal of duplicate posts from their aggregated feeds. Dubbed “Crosstalk,” this functionality is launching with the Tapestry 1.1 update for iOS, marking a significant advancement since the app’s initial debut in February 2025.
Developed by the seasoned team behind the widely acclaimed Twitterrific client, Tapestry aims to unify decentralized social networks such as Mastodon and Bluesky alongside traditional RSS-supported websites, podcasts, blogs, Reddit posts, YouTube videos, and more. Users benefit from combining numerous feeds and sources into personalized timelines tailored to their interests.
However, this multi-feed integration frequently presented a challenge: the repeated incidence of identical or similar posts from content creators who share their updates across different platforms. Tapestry’s latest update specifically addresses this issue, intelligently detecting and eliminating duplicates, even when posts are not word-for-word identical. For example, if a lengthy Mastodon post is condensed to fit Bluesky’s character limitations, Tapestry can still recognize the similarity and automatically filter out the repetition.
Users retain control over managing these duplicates, having the choice between “muffling” a repeated entry—minimizing its visibility—or completely muting it from their feed altogether. The application’s sophisticated text recognition capabilities allow it to identify duplicates from the same author across different networks regardless of slight textual alterations.
Alongside Crosstalk, Tapestry 1.1 introduces additional convenience features. For instance, the Quicklinks feature enables easier access to a user’s preferred or custom feed configurations, allowing for seamless switching between up to four saved timelines. Moreover, these settings are device-specific, giving users the flexibility to customize distinct timelines for iPad or iPhone use. Other refinements include a more accessible refresh button, simplified feed navigation, customizable feed options via an intuitive Action menu, and even personalized app icon selections.
Tapestry remains available as a free download on the Apple App Store, supplemented by in-app purchases. Users can choose a monthly subscription priced at $1.99, a yearly plan for $19.99, or a one-time payment of $79.99 for lifetime access.
