Snapchat has unveiled new tools within its Lens Studio platform, giving augmented reality creators enhanced capabilities to develop Bitmoji-based games. Included in the latest update, Lens Studio 5.10 now features a robust suite of gaming assets, designed to help developers create interactive and engaging game experiences using Bitmoji characters.
The update brings a new turn-based gameplay system, simplifying the creation of multiplayer games where users can exchange snaps and respond directly within the same game. Snapchat has also introduced a customizable character control system, which supports multiple gameplay perspectives, including first-person, third-person, side-scroller, and top-down views, giving developers greater flexibility and creative control.
Additionally, the company has revamped leaderboards to offer enriched templates for start and end screens, as well as new visualizations for displaying friends’ scores along with global rankings. Alongside this, Snapchat introduces insightful friend-based metrics, helping users identify friends who’ve participated in the same games.
With the launch of Bitmoji Suite, creators gain exciting new animation and customization features. Users can now design personalized outfits for their Bitmoji avatars, craft stylized props, and animate these elements leveraging Snapchat’s built-in animation library.
To showcase these new functionalities, Snapchat has released several Bitmoji Game Lenses—such as “Bitmoji Bistro,” “Bitmoji Bucket,” and “Bitmoji Blast”—that allow single-player interactions and turn-based challenges among friends. While Snapchat users have already enjoyed various AR-driven games, this marks the first curated collection of Bitmoji-specific game experiences aimed explicitly at facilitating playful competition among friends.
These recent expansions underscore Snapchat’s continued commitment to supporting and growing its vibrant community of more than 375,000 AR developers and creators, empowering them with innovative tools to create captivating interactive experiences. Additionally, developers can participate in Snapchat’s “Bitmojiverse Challenge,” where creators integrating the new Bitmoji Suite and game assets compete for cash prizes.
