Unlock the Secret: Microsoft’s New AI Tool Transforms Words into Videos — What’s the Catch?

Microsoft Bing today announced it is integrating a new AI-driven video generation feature, the Bing Video Creator, into its mobile app, powered by OpenAI’s Sora model. This groundbreaking tool, which creates videos from user-provided text prompts, is now available free of charge for the first time, marking a significant shift from OpenAI’s prior restriction of Sora to paying customers only.

Initially, access to Bing Video Creator is limited to Microsoft’s mobile app, with no desktop support currently available. The company admits that video creation times may range up to several hours, despite a promised “fast mode” that is intended to produce videos within just a few minutes.

Every Microsoft user logged into their account is granted ten free AI-generated video clips. After reaching this threshold, each additional video costs 100 Microsoft Rewards points. Users can earn these points through everyday activities such as conducting Bing searches or shopping in the Microsoft Store. Specifically, Bing searches via desktop yield approximately five points per query, with a daily earning limit capped at 150 points.

At present, users can queue up to three videos simultaneously, each limited to a duration of five seconds. While videos initially support only a vertical 9:16 aspect ratio suitable for platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, Bing indicated plans to soon offer horizontal 16:9 format options.
