Apple Music has launched a new audio wellness initiative entitled Sound Therapy, aimed at enhancing users’ focus, relaxation, and sleep. Developed in collaboration with Universal Music Group (UMG), this unique collection blends songs familiar to subscribers with scientifically-influenced audio frequencies tailored for mental wellness.
Included in the collection are tracks designed around auditory beats and various spectrums of colored noise—waves of sound whose intensity fluctuates at different frequencies defined by color. For example, pink noise, comparable to gentle rainfall or the rustle of wind, is integrated with delta waves to encourage restful sleep. Meanwhile, the Focus selections utilize gamma auditory beats alongside white noise to enhance concentration, and the Relax category incorporates theta waves, helping listeners unwind and de-stress.
Among the artists whose music features in the Sound Therapy range are Imagine Dragons, Katy Perry, Kacey Musgraves, Ludovico Einaudi, AURORA, Jhené Aiko, Chelsea Cutler, and Jeremy Zucker. Producers and sound engineers at Sollos, UMG’s London-based wellness subsidiary, transformed these popular tracks into extended, instrumental versions specifically arranged for the therapeutic collection.
The Sound Therapy offering complements the recent release of Apple Music Chill, a radio station featuring calming music interwoven with narrated mindfulness sessions and tranquil storytelling.
