Unlock Spotify’s Hidden Powers: The Secret Update That Transforms Your Music Experience

Spotify has rolled out a significant update aimed at providing users with greater control and personalization of their listening experience and music recommendations. These new features will gradually become available to both standard users and Premium subscribers.

A key aspect of the update is an improved Queue experience for Premium subscribers. The redesigned Queue interface now prominently features controls such as Shuffle, Smart Shuffle, Repeat, and Sleep Timer for quick access. Additionally, users can completely disable Smart Shuffle and Autoplay directly from the settings. Premium users will also be able to preview Spotify’s upcoming recommended tracks displayed immediately following their queued songs, enabling listeners to easily curate what songs remain in their playback queue.

Spotify has also enhanced the functionality of its Hide button, making it more accessible when users come across an unwanted track within their playlist. The Hide feature removes that track from playlists across all devices. Soon, Spotify plans to introduce an even stronger version of this tool called Snooze, enabling users to temporarily exclude certain songs from appearing in their recommendations for up to 30 days.

Playlist management receives an upgrade, too. Users will now see intuitive Add, Sort, and Edit buttons prominently placed at the top of their playlists. These allow users to quickly reorder tracks, rename playlists, or update cover art easily and efficiently.

Listeners in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States will also receive the option to filter their liked songs by genre and quickly convert these selections directly into playlists.

Additionally, Spotify has reorganized its app’s navigation and music curation tools. The new Create button was moved to the bottom-right of the mobile interface, facilitating easy access to key features such as playlist creation, collaborative playlists, and Blend—a playlist designed to merge two user profiles’ music tastes seamlessly. Premium subscribers will find additional tools under this menu—including Spotify’s AI-powered playlist generation feature and Jam sessions, which enable real-time collaborative listening.

Furthermore, due to these changes in navigation, Spotify has repositioned the “Your Library” tab as the third main tab at the bottom of the mobile app.
