Uber customers in the United States now have the chance to earn Delta SkyMiles through a new exclusive agreement between the ridesharing app and the airline. Passengers who use Uber for airport transfers, premium travel options, reserved rides, or to order via Uber Eats can accumulate miles as part of the collaboration, which aims at reinforcing Uber’s presence within lucrative airport travel markets.
The initiative follows Uber’s recent efforts to expand its airport-related services, highlighted by the introduction and success of its Airport Shuttle service in New York City. Uber announced Tuesday that the shuttle service will soon be available in Atlanta. These aviation-focused moves come at a pivotal time, as many Americans rethink their travel budgets amid economic uncertainty, lowered consumer spending, and increased border security measures.
Starting Tuesday, users who previously joined a waitlist will be able to link their Uber and Delta SkyMiles accounts to begin earning points, with the offer expanding to all customers on Thursday.
Under the new partnership, the following rewards are available for travelers who link their accounts:
– Uber Eats orders: 1 SkyMile earned for every dollar spent on orders totaling over $40.
– UberX rides to and from airports: 1 SkyMile per $1 spent.
– Premium travel with Uber Comfort or Uber Black: 2 SkyMiles per $1 spent.
– Scheduled rides using Uber Reserve: 3 SkyMiles per $1 spent.
Although customers booking Uber Reserve rides for airport trips will not be able to collect multiple rewards simultaneously, Uber confirmed that riders will receive SkyMiles based on whichever individual reward offer grants them the highest mileage benefit.
Additionally, Uber and Delta are integrating their platforms further. Customers booking airfare through Delta’s app will now have the option to add an Uber Reserve ride directly within the flight purchase process for seamless journeys to and from the airport. Later in the year, SkyMiles members logging onto inflight Wi-Fi will receive exclusive promotional discounts of 30% off their first Uber rides booked for airport arrivals.
