PayPal has announced a partnership with hotel payments provider Selfbook to allow customers to search for and book hotels directly within the PayPal app. Through this new integration, users will be able to easily browse and reserve accommodations while utilizing PayPal for a seamless checkout process.
In addition to directly booking hotels, PayPal users will have access to exclusive in-app discounts. The company also noted that customers will be able to select PayPal’s “Buy Now, Pay Later” (BNPL) option at participating hotels, adding increased flexibility to payments on certain reservations.
To access this feature, customers will navigate to the Offers section within their PayPal app, where they can filter hotel listings by travel dates and number of guests. The hotels displayed will be those utilizing Selfbook’s payment services, although details about whether Selfbook’s full catalog of properties will be accessible to PayPal users have not yet been specified.
For PayPal, this initiative represents another opportunity to expand its in-app offerings to encourage customer engagement. Given that PayPal’s own data indicates an 84% rise in online travel spending among its payment products, the company expects the integration to appeal broadly to users who prefer streamlined online transactions.
Moreover, the partnership extends beyond hotel bookings within the app. Selfbook plans to integrate PayPal’s enterprise payment solutions into its broader payment processing infrastructure, allowing hotels using Selfbook’s system to handle credit card transactions via PayPal’s services.
Selfbook, as CEO and Co-founder Khalid Meniri explained, aims to simplify what has traditionally been a fragmented travel booking experience, combining search, booking, and payment into a single, cohesive process. This integrated solution, Meniri added, not only makes travel preparations easier for customers but also allows hotels more direct connections to guests, improved control over their branding, and increased profitability due to commission-free transactions.
Earlier this year, Selfbook also leveraged PayPal as a payments partner within the AI-driven chat app Perplexity, which introduced a feature to let users discover and book hotels directly through chat conversations.
