Indeed CEO Chris Hyams announced on Monday that he is stepping down from his role, with Hisayuki Idekoba returning as CEO. Idekoba, currently CEO of Indeed’s parent company Recruit, previously served as the job platform’s chief executive, and now resumes leadership after a six-year hiatus.
Hyams, who joined Indeed in 2010 as Vice President of Product Development, plans to remain involved as an advisor to the company’s board throughout the transition period. Reflecting on his tenure, Hyams noted that Indeed now serves more than 300 million job seekers each month and has increased its revenue by 200 times since he started. He highlighted the platform’s impact, stating that 27 job seekers are hired every minute—one every 2.2 seconds—with a total of more than 75 million successful hires recorded, a figure he believes significantly understates the actual impact.
Idekoba praised Hyams’ contributions, particularly in transforming the platform from a straightforward job search site into a comprehensive, two-sided talent marketplace. “Indeed would not be what it is today without Chris,” Idekoba stated, acknowledging his predecessor’s influential role in the company’s evolution.
