Scale AI, a prominent data labeling startup supported by Tiger Global, has acquired the entire team behind the remote developer recruitment platform, Pesto AI. As a result of the acquisition, Pesto AI will wind down operations.
Pesto AI was co-founded in 2017 by Ayush Jaiswal and Rahul Jaimini, who is also known as a co-founder of India’s prominent food delivery platform Swiggy. Over the years, Pesto attracted investments totaling more than $8 million from notable figures including Ryan Hoover of Product Hunt and Sahil Lavingia of Gumroad. Initially, the company had focused on training and educating software developers, later expanding into a platform designed to assist companies globally in hiring remote developers.
According to Pesto’s public LinkedIn information, the company employed around 71 people before the acquisition. However, specifics regarding how many former Pesto employees will join Scale AI have not been disclosed.
In a recent online statement, Ayush Jaiswal announced his move to Scale AI earlier this year, explaining that his new role as Head of Growth at Scale marks the next stage in his long-standing ambition: leveraging artificial intelligence technology to generate global opportunities.
Scale AI has declined to comment further on the details of the acquisition.
