Startups specializing in AI-driven coding tools continue to garner heightened investor enthusiasm, and Cursor is among those leading the charge. According to recent reports, Cursor has secured $900 million from a funding round spearheaded by Thrive Capital, setting the company’s valuation at an impressive $9 billion.
Esteemed venture firms Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and Accel have reportedly joined Thrive in backing Cursor’s ambitious growth trajectory. This latest financing round follows a sizable $105 million capital injection earlier this year from Thrive and a16z, which then valued the company at approximately $2.5 billion.
Cursor has emerged as one of the standout providers in the rapidly expanding AI coding assistant market, attracting attention alongside notable peers. In February, another AI-driven coding startup, Windsurf, was said to be eyeing financing at a valuation of roughly $3 billion. More recently, industry reports suggested that OpenAI is considering acquiring Windsurf at the same valuation level, underscoring widespread interest and confidence in the segment’s future growth prospects.
