Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, despite previously emphasizing his enjoyment for podcasts, revealed in a recent interview that his listening habits have dramatically shifted. Nadella explained he’s largely replaced actually listening to podcasts by uploading their transcripts into Microsoft’s Copilot AI assistant, which then allows him to discuss and digest the content interactively during his daily commute.
Nadella, jokingly referring to his role at the company as an “email typist,” noted that Copilot has fundamentally reshaped his daily workflow. He currently relies on at least ten custom-built AI assistants designed in Copilot Studio. These tailored agents help him efficiently summarize email communications, monitor message threads, prepare for meetings and assist with many other routine office tasks.
Beyond personal productivity improvements for executives, artificial intelligence’s impact on Microsoft has also driven substantial internal restructuring. Recently, the company’s programmers were among the most significantly affected by layoffs, closely following Nadella’s announcement that approximately 30% of Microsoft’s codebase is now generated by AI.
