Max Financial Services announced on Wednesday that its insurance subsidiary, Axis Max Life Insurance, received communication alerting it to unauthorized access of customer data by an anonymous entity. The incident was disclosed in a regulatory filing though it did not provide specific details of the data compromised.

Following the notification, Axis Max Life Insurance immediately launched an intensive information security assessment and initiated a comprehensive analysis of data logs to understand the scope and impact of the breach. The company stated that security experts have been engaged to carry out a thorough investigation aimed at pinpointing the root cause of the incident and implementing necessary corrective measures.

Axis Max Life Insurance is India’s fifth-largest insurer, managing assets totaling approximately ₹1.75 trillion ($20 billion) and providing a combined insured sum of around ₹21.9 trillion (approximately $256 billion), as revealed in their latest annual report data.

The company did not immediately provide further details about the breach or specify the nature of the data involved.
