Christoph Schell, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Intel, has announced he is leaving the tech giant after two years in the role, according to a recent SEC filing. Schell informed the company of his decision on Monday, stating he would resign effective June 30 to pursue another career opportunity. Intel has yet to disclose who will succeed him.
Since joining Intel in February 2022, Schell led critical segments of the company, including sales, marketing, and communications, reporting directly to the CEO’s office. Prior to his tenure at Intel, Schell held key leadership roles, including Chief Commercial Officer at HP, EVP for growth markets at Philips, and in brand management at Procter & Gamble.
Schell’s departure occurs amid a substantial restructuring spearheaded by Intel’s newly appointed CEO, Lip-Bu Tan. Tan has actively streamlined the company’s focus, earmarking departments deemed “non-core” for divestment, including selling Intel’s controlling stake in its Altera semiconductor division. Additionally, he has flattened management structures, appointed new leadership in the firm’s artificial intelligence initiatives, and announced plans to significantly reduce Intel’s workforce by an estimated 21,000 employees.
Tan’s strategic overhaul also includes a recent mandate requiring employees to report to the office four days a week, a shift from Intel’s previous hybrid work policies. Moreover, earlier plans to spin out Intel Capital, the company’s corporate venture capital arm, have been called off, signaling another reversal in the company’s ongoing realignment.
