Tesla CEO Elon Musk says he plans to continue his involvement with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) through the remainder of President Donald Trump’s second term, despite increasing pressure to withdraw from political engagement.
Speaking during Tesla’s latest quarterly earnings call, Musk indicated that he intends to scale back his commitment to DOGE to “a day or two per week” beginning next month. He emphasized, however, that his future participation would largely depend on whether President Trump continues to find his contribution beneficial.
Musk’sannouncement came shortly after Tesla acknowledged in its shareholder communication that the ongoing political climate surrounding Musk’s public activities had negatively impacted sales performance. According to the latest earnings report, Tesla experienced a significant 71% decline in profits compared to the same quarter last year, a drop attributed to heightened political backlash combined with other factors such as tariff impacts and fluctuating demand.
