Apple is expanding its Self Service Repair program to include the iPad, allowing users to conduct home repairs using genuine Apple parts, detailed manuals, diagnostic troubleshooting sessions, and specialized toolkits. Beginning this Thursday, customers with specific iPad models, including the iPad Air (M2 and newer), iPad Pro (M4), iPad mini (A17 Pro), and iPad (A16), will be able to order repair kits for components such as displays, batteries, cameras, and charging ports.
Brian Naumann, Apple’s Vice President of AppleCare, emphasized the company’s commitment to product longevity and customer empowerment, stating, “Our goal is to create the world’s greatest products that last as long as possible. With today’s announcement, we’re excited to extend our repair services to more customers, enabling them to further prolong the lifespan of their devices—without compromising safety, security, or privacy.”
Initially launched in 2022, Apple’s Self Service Repair initiative allows comfortable and experienced customers to access the same resources provided at Apple Store locations and Apple Authorized Service Providers, facilitating accurate and secure repairs at home.
To date, the program supports repairs for 65 Apple products—including the newly debuted iPhone 16e, the MacBook Air, and the Mac Studio. Additionally, Apple confirmed that Canada will soon become the 34th country to participate in the Self Service Repair network.
Accompanying this announcement, Apple also released new details about its Genuine Parts Distributor program. Intended primarily for independent mobile device repair professionals, this service enables third-party repair specialists to purchase official Apple components through approved international distributors—including MobileSentrix in the U.S. and Europe, as well as Mobileparts.shop in Europe. These channels presently provide authentic parts for iPhone, such as batteries, screens, and charging components, with iPad-compatible parts scheduled to become available starting tomorrow.
